Screening: Hidden Inside Mountains , discussion to follow with artist, musician and filmmaker Laurie Anderson.
Who knows what this movie is – something dream like, with violins, bells, and dog barks. It’s made by the same woman who stood on a street cornor playing her violin while perched on a block of ice and wearing ice skates. Let’s just say I’m interested.

The down side to this prequel to the original cult classic series is that Sedaris has taken a hiatus from her column Sedaratives at the Believer, which has now been extended into the summer. On a positive note: More Strangers with Candy: The story of an ex drug addict who returns to high school after a life of substance abuse. Also, you will get to hear Sedaris talk, which is always entertaining. The last time I saw her interviewed, she spoke at length about her “friend” make out sessions with Matthew Broderick and her plans to make bacon grease ice cubes to give to her family for Christmas.

Matthew Modine “in person”
Star Matthew Modine will be in attendance to discuss this seminal movie about a journalist who must come to terms with the brutality of war. The screening is part of a month long Stanley Kubrick series which finally provides viewers with a chance to erase their sanity by watching the director’s life work.
