Institutional Support for Web Critics

For all the complaining I do about the lack of support from institutions and alternative spaces for web critics, I should probably let it be known that the state of affairs might not be as bad as I make it out to be, particularly because I’ve received a lot of it lately. A special thanks to Location One, Brooklyn Fireproof, Socrates Sculpture Park and Rhizome, for extending opportunities to me that may not have been within my reach even a year ago. You’ll have the opportunity to read about the majority of projects I’m participating in as they occur, beginning with Brooklyn Fireproof and Ad Hoc Vox’s Double X Art, a round table discussion intended to address the under representation of female artists on Wednesday July 18th. Participants include: Phong Bui, Colby Chamberlain, Dana Frankfort, Maureen Gallace, Elizabeth Huey, Paddy Johnson, Deborah Kass, Wendy Olsoff, Danica Phelps, Katy Siegel, Lisa Sigal, and Becky Smith. Colleen Asper will moderate the discussion, which will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Additionally, a special thanks to icommons for inviting me to Croatia this year to talk about art, and CC licensing. If you’ll forgive the cliche, it really was an amazing experience.
