Nathan Redwood, Buh, 2008, acrylic and 24kt gold leaf on canvas, 22 x 28 inches

Amongst the smaller works in Nathan Redwood’s So Much Sound at Caren Golden Fine Art, Buh alone makes a visit worth while.   Pulling off gold leaf in contemporary painting is difficult to say the least, and this painting does it.   Some of the larger works employ an illustration-y black under painting technique with less success, but overall Redwood looks like he’s heading in a good direction.   The show unequivocally earns him the title of “artist to watch”.

‘Buh’? This reminds me a lot of Peter Flan’s ‘Gah’:
