Care to celebrate love under the warm glow of florescent lights? Why not take a little time out of the fairs to do just this at KUMUKUMU Gallery. They will be hosting a cheerful champagne reception in conjunction with Fernando Mastrangelo’s shows at Volta, Scope and Cuchifritos March 7th 4-8 pm, presumably in an effort to prove economic downturns don’t have to mean an end to cliche high-production-cost art work.

I love Fernando, he’s a good friend, and, in regard to high production costs, I can assure you he does all his own stunts on the fairly cheap. His real problem is he doesn’t have enough deep seated issues to dredge for the wonderful goop that makes for the good stuff. He’s just a straight forward kind of guy, get’s an idea and goes after it with stubborn determination, and he’s got no shame. That helps. No press is bad press, check out his website- fernandomastrangelo.com – I shot the dancing karate pictures.
