Ron Warren is Still Alive!

Ron Warren at Mary Boone Gallery

Proving he is still alive, we snapped the above picture of Mary Boone’s director Ron Warren in Chelsea Saturday. Like many who hadn’t read the press release prior to entering the gallery, we wondered if this might not be the case, as the exhibition title  “A Tribute to Ron Warren” suggests otherwise. After all, tributes typically cull work made in honor of the life of the recently deceased or, at least, unavailable. This exhibition simply showcases the art of those Warren has worked with over his 25 years at the gallery.

In an amusing related anecdote, just prior to taking the above picture we overheard a woman congratulating Warren. We guess he earned the cudos, but the accolades seem slightly overstated for a boilerplate “here’s some available backroom inventory I would like to sell you” show.

Our favorite piece from the exhibition after the jump.

The artwork by Chia Fueki, behind Ron Warren in the first picture of this post was my favorite in this show.

a little birdie told me this show was supposed to be a Ghada Amer curated show, but Mary Boone didn’t like that Amer flipped over to Cheim & Read rather than deflecting to Mary Boone…

I hated the way this show was hung, and my favorite was also the Fueki!

Phil Taaffe’s piece in the bottom foto looks like a big reproduction
