WordPress Commenting Restored

by Paddy Johnson on July 1, 2010 · 4 comments From the Desk of AFC

This is no Tom Moody animated mail gif, but readers will have to deal. I'm on vacation.

I’ve reverted comment capabilities back to the old system until I can have a custom system built for the blog later this summer. Intense Debate is not only riddled with spam but commenters saw their comments disappear one by one, as the system started to identify registered accounts as spam. Also there were more than a few features I wasn’t able to turn off that I didn’t like so that wasn’t good. All and all I’d describe this as a negative experience.

I’d like to thank Veken Gueyikian at Going off Script for helping me manage this problem last night,  and my designer John Sexton uninstalling the plug-in. Gueyikian and Sexton are the reason good bloggers love their publishers and designers. They solve problems.

Speaking of which, if readers identify any other bugs please let me know. I’m still working to restore a few lost comments I fussed with in the Truit thread, but past this we should be good to go.

Comments are working again but the comment counters aren’t showing new comments.
