This retrospective is going to be great. First launched at the Tate Modern in 2009, the exhibition was one of the strongest we saw last year, and probably the most relevant to contemporary artists. After all, Baldessari spent a large part of his career establishing his own rules for art making, a defining practice in an era of anything goes. Spanning five decades, the show will include early paintings, collages, and the artist’s books.
