Do you tweet nonstop? Do your friends start calling hospitals if your facebook status hasn't been updated recently*? Do you dream in flickr?

If you answered yes to the above, WE WANT YOU!

The Sound of Art is a project documenting the sounds heard in galleries, museums, and project spaces in New York over the past five years in the form of a DJ battle record, CD, and MP3 recording. The record is currently in production by Matt “Madly” Azzarto of Think Tank Studio and a release party is planned for this fall. That's where you come in.

As the Sound of Art intern, you will be involved in marketing and public relations, working hands (and ears)-on, both in and out of the studio. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in social networking, music, visual art and digital media, and possesses excellent writing and editing skills. Applicants should be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to assist with:

  • campaign inquiries
  • ticket sales
  • administrivia
  • various postal balderdashery

Interns will work directly with AFC Editor-in-Chief Paddy Johnson as well as other Sound of Art staff. The position offers valuable hands-on experience in the fast-growing world of digital media and in-depth insight into a prestigious online publication.

What we cannot offer in monetary payment, we make up for with a supportive atmosphere that encourages and celebrates your social-media-related obsessive compulsions. And if your mother calls, we promise to tell her it's a real job. How much is this kind of validation worth? No one can say.

School credit is available.

If interested, please e-mail cover letter, resume, and availability to artfagcity@gmail.com with “Sound of Art Intern Application” as the subject line. Be sure to include your twitter handle, flickr account, and any other pertinent information regarding your knowledge of the internet. Applications must be received by Tuesday, September 21.
