Gotham Gal: Last weeks VIP Art Fair, online – I suspect there are enough people who would spend over $10k on an artist’s work they haven’t seen in person for high price points to work online, particularly if the artist is well known. Even five years ago when I was working at galleries collectors were starting to do this. Still, this post is interesting because very few collectors blog about collecting (in fact, I can’t think of any – MAO’s basically stopped). Also, the author, Joanne Wilson is married to Fred Wilson, a very well known VC for start-ups and other web companies. There’s a new collector class out there that wants to buy art. Time to start providing platforms for them to do so.
