We first introduced Hennessy Youngman to audiences last year when he shared his thoughts on Post-Structuralism. Now he’s discussing Relational Aesthetics [posted above]. The video link came to us from Jerry Saltz on Twitter, who appreciates both Rirkrit Tiravanija’s soup at Gavin Brown and Youngman’s cynicism. Naturally, artist William Powhida has challenged him on Twitter to write a review that includes both Youngman’s “spot-on” critique and Tiravanija’s “paradigm-rocking tour-de-force”. This, we would like to see realized.

This really is the best link ever.
Everything is relational, contagious, and morphs. Youngman should come to this year’s Open Engagement in Portland. He’d be fawned over. For sure, in a relativist kinda surety.
the dream of the 90’s is alive in Portland.
Booyah! Thanks for sharing this slice of hilarity and truth!
The best in american culture…. Hennessey Youngman.
<3 this analysis
About 16 percent of Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes, making it one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, U.S. health officials said on Tuesday. Maybe this is the reason that why there are more than 680,000 members on the STD dating site POZmingle. Hope all the people take care and find love.
This is soooooo much better then any and all Relational Aesthetics.

An entertaining analysis, but Claire Bishop’s essay still offers the most thoughtful critique of relational aesthetics:

Hennessy is making Philadelphia proud!!!!! We love him!!!!!! Unfortunately, Hennessy has a stalker. An internet troll, Vincent Romaniello. He’s been blocked from many sites and will undoubtedly comment here under a fake name. We thought we’d preemptively let you know. Â
