Now with Coco Fusco and David Shrigley! The Sotheby’s Art Handler Petition Grows

by Will Brand on May 4, 2012 · 1 comment Off Our Chest

Our petition in support of the locked-out art handlers at Sotheby's just breezed past 2,000 names, and you just might recognize a few. Artists Cuco Fusco, David Shrigley, and Dana Schutz have signed on, along with a host of other concerned supporters from across the art world.

More responses are coming in all the time, and we’re getting there. Between your help online and the continued dedication of those actually on the picket lines, the buzz is building. Even the normally reticent Carol Vogel mentioned the art handlers in her writeup of Wednesday’s evening sale.

We still need your support. If you haven’t signed, sign it. If you have, tell your friends. In fact, tell everyone you can about the way Sotheby’s treats its employees. We can’t force the company to do anything; what we can do is make it known that every day this lockout continues will mean a more educated, more unified, more outraged public.

We haven't received an official response from Sotheby's regarding the petition. Until then, we'll just keep on making friends. Expect more updates over the weekend.
