Amazon Art Customer Reviews are Hysterical

Damien Hirst, "Ethylamine", 2012. $8,500

It’s only been a week since Amazon launched its new fine arts category, but the customer reviews are already pouring in. Naturally, we immediately took to combing the site for the best of them. Some of the juiciest comments have already been removed from the site, but luckily we were able to snag a lot them before they disappeared. Hoo-boy, did we ever find some good ones!

Norman Rockwell, "Willie Gillis: Package from Home", 1941. $4,850,000

Helen Frankenthaler, "Adirondacks", 1992. $975,000

Andy Warhol, "Van Heusen" (Ronald Reagan, From Ad Series). $16,000

I think the Rockwell comments are pretty good, no?

If there’s a better way to make juice than squeezing internet comments please let us know.

This was inevitable, finally the public gets to write art criticism ! Hopefully it will continue, I remember when for about a day or so Gagosian had a Facebook profile and posted the work of a young German artist and asked everyone what they thought. He did not reply to anyone’s comments ,he just kept asking questions. Let the Amazon paradigm loose !
