In all seriousness: a link to a 2010 “sky is falling for NYC ART” article? Really?
I’d love to see some ACTUAL #’s on ‘art school kids’ for 2013-4. I’m still still seeing them all over the place. AND Bushwick open studios gets to be a bigger clusterfuck annually. And, the whole “artists gentrify….” narrative is pure BS. If all that happened was artists seeking cheap rents there wouldn’t be such a problem. It’s the amenities that follow. The biz, the development, the hangers on that are the real problem.
It’s all true re: the ‘affordability’ question, but we all know that isn’t new. I’m not convinced it’s necessarily more extreme either, just more widespread.
And yes, it’s raining. Are you gonna melt or something? Jeezsch.

We add a number of links to our list so people can read the ones that are of interest to them and ignore the ones that aren’t. If you don’t like the article, skip it. If you don’t like the intro, you can skip it too. It’s three sentences.

1) I don’t think it is a like/dislike issue: it’s hard to ‘skip’ an article one hasn’t read based on whether one likes it or not, anyway.
AND really, is that how YOU operate? Reading only what you ‘like’, skipping the rest? Echo chamber much??? Good to know….
2) Get a raincoat. Buy a hat. A culture that curses the rain is, well…….

Yup, that’s how I operate. When I scan the arts section of the Times for instance, I often skip articles about museum appointments because I already know I don’t care. I wasn’t aware I supposed to read articles that aren’t of interest to me.

I think it is sometimes referred to as a ‘healthy intellectual curiosity’. Obviously one can’t read everything, esp. not at this point, but…. that wasn’t my point.

That Crains article has been circulating on Facebook a lot lately, and it’s from 2010.

Yup. Someone forwarded me the article, I think they found it on facebook. I guess it has new life, since the issue remains relevant. (We mention in the post that it was from 2010).

Yes, and your point has been heard. Don’t include old links and don’t complain about the weather.
