GIFS are simple right? They’re a light weight file that quickly loads in a browser and can be shared with ease. Nothin’ to it.
Unless you’re Lisa Gwilliam & Ray Sweeten. For their exhibition, “Echelons“, at Microscope Gallery the artist duo use video footage of iconic architectural structures as the source for thousands of GIFs generated randomly and recomposed to create the above composite. It’s pretty much the opposite of simple. It’s what you’d image the visual result of a thousand surveillance cameras pointed on you at once might look like. In this case, they’re pointed at the new world trade tower, a center of commerce, trade and power.
