Charlotte Young provides a little art speak translation for those who don’t understand the language. It’s funny, though also a little embittered. Worth a watch.

Anyone else have something they really want to put off for the next five minutes? Here: watch countless man-made and natural materials get garbled to the tune of an 80’s gay porn sound track. This wood-chipper isn’t particularly therapeutic or addictive, but I watched it at work anyway. And then I read the metafilter thread. That’s the way I roll.

Who knew poodle hair mutability could match that of the We Network’s Amazing Wedding Cakes? Sandy Paws, an award-winning poodle groomer (that’s a title you can have, now), had this vision, transforming her pet poodle/mascot Cindy into… just about everything.  Garden snails not your thing? No problem! Cindy has become a Ninja Turtle, a rooster, and even a potted peacock. Suck on that, Hipster Puppies!

Here’s a blast from the past worth a second look. Good Morning America talks to Madonna in 1991 about Truth or Dare, a production “critics may see as a primitive home movie. A self-plotation film violating the boundaries of good taste.” In the age of The Rock of Love and 50 cent’s twitter it’s hard to imagine this same criticism being lodged today.

A love letter to art? Probably not – as I see it, this new Michael Bell-Smith video set to The Talking Heads “This Must Be The Place” is mostly about being comfortable with art. Whether we want to think about it or simply live with it is up to us. Bell-Smith is represented by Foxy Production in Chelsea.

“We pay top dollar for your used Malevich!” reads a speech bubble from the above website. And just what can you get from a company with a name that evokes prophets, cats and law firms all in the same breath? In theory, Cabbage Patch Dolls, David Wojnarowicz, NY Giants memorabilia, and Russian Models. In practice, approximately 30 seconds of wasted click time. So far this site is only a splash page. Scroll down the full length of the site though so as not to miss the senior discount. We’ll all want to take advantage of that. Via: @kristoncapps

We first introduced Hennessy Youngman to audiences last year when he shared his thoughts on Post-Structuralism. Now he’s discussing Relational Aesthetics [posted above]. The video link came to us from Jerry Saltz on Twitter, who appreciates both Rirkrit Tiravanija’s soup at Gavin Brown and Youngman’s cynicism. Naturally, artist William Powhida has challenged him on Twitter […]

Now, this is good. An Afro-goth music video with graveyards, seizures, paint, megaphones, slums, and children. A cover of Joy Division’s She’s Lost Control.
