I haven’t talked to a single person who isn’t sick of the art fairs, but since we’ll all be in Miami this week for them, we’re in this shit together. So let’s make this as quick and as painless as possible. Here is the Art F City fair guide. We didn’t bother listing everything because it’s not worth trying to see everything. A little curation never hurt anyone.
Haydi Roket didn’t get a mention on my tumblr round up on artnet, but he probably should have. He’s incredibly active. His about page doesn’t tell a user much—it’s a cartoon image of a guy in a helmet in front of a tumblr dashboard—but from this we can assume he’s an internerd. And from the image above we know he’s net art aware. The brand names, the sea punk dolphins, the reference to operating systems—there’s clearly a shared aesthetic here between Roket and sites like Cloaque. This GIFs is a little more contained than most though—it’s almost poster like. Given all the symmetry in this piece, that format makes sense.
Yet more great imagery from Cloaque, the website that is a self proclaimed “digital landfill.” This GIF is a screengrab from the video project cloaque.mov, by Chris Timms, Carlos Saez + Dmntia, Rollin Leonard, Jasper Elings, Anthony Antonellis, Emilio Gomariz, and Claudia Mate. The movie is like a Mac OSX themed LSD trip, and the music, by Yoshi Sodeoka definitely augments this trippiness by a sizable factor.
If you haven’t already, we encourage you to get lost in the Cloaque universe. It’s often perverse, usually absurd, and always attention consuming.
