We now have specific art fairs for everything: paper, video art, solo projects, Asian art, curator-driven booths, independent artists, dykes, shiny things, boring shows… there’s something for everyone.

Alright, who hasn’t placed a bid at BAM’s Benefit Auction yet? Time to move! The auction closes tomorrow at 6 pm.  The Ryan Johnson mixed media work above needs a home. A cocktail reception will be held tomorrow from 3-6 for those wanting to hob nob a little before the auction closes. I hope to see at least a few readers there as the BAM benefit events are usually a blast. Speaking of which, this time I intend to remain sober. The last BAM auction reception I attended resulted in a little *too much* fun and a lost weekend.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music’s (BAM) annual benefit art auction keeps getting better. Launched yesterday, the online catalogue hosts the blue chippiest of blue chip artists, along with BAM’s trademark selection of up and coming artists. Those who have even an inkling that they might want some new art should take a look at the catalogue. The potential of ending up with a work of art at a great price is high, and should a bidding war occur over a desirable work of art, surely supporting BAM is worth going the extra mile. A cocktail reception will be held at BAM on the final day of the auction, April 10th where all the work will be on display. May no enthusiast return empty handed!
