- “Every place to eat and to drink now—of course I mean in New York, perhaps elsewhere things are still as they were—is some sort of performance.” writes Susan Choi as she reflects on McHale’s. It’s bar she says was simply for drinking, in the same way that coffee shops are for eating. It’s a beautiful piece. [PEN America]
- Lawrence Weschler in conversation with Fred Tomaselli. Carve out a bit of time to read this. [Virginia Quarterly Review]
- A very interesting panel discussion on the online art business with Carter Cleveland of Artsy, Christopher Vroom of Artspace, Aditya Julka at Paddle8, and Suzanna from Artnet. Michaela de Pury (de Pury de Pury). Aditya Julka is hands down the star of this discussion. He notes the Paddle8 is responsible for 300 million dollars of auction activity since their inception, much of that number occurring in the last 6 months. Vroom and Julka sound like direct competitors (because they are). Cleveland mentions LinkedIn as a model for artsy. [DLD Conference]
