The Armory: In-N-Out

by The AFC Staff on January 7, 2013 Art Fair

The Armory, Installation view

Here at AFC we like to carry on traditions worth repeating. One such tradition is Art Market Views’s annual summation of galleries joining and leaving the fairs. Editor Lindsay Pollock is now Art in America’s Editor-in-Chief, so we’re picking up this one up in her absence and, as it happens, just in time for the Armory show.

As many New Yorkers have witnessed, The Armory has weathered some rather stiff competition in recent years thanks in large part to The Independent and Frieze. This year, The Armory’s bled such heavy hitters as Zach Feuer, Paul Kasmin, Greene Naftali, and Andrew Kreps Gallery. We also have seen no press regarding what will replace their Focus section, a portion of the fair that last year hosted 15 Nordic galleries. A list of who’s joining the fair this year, and who’s leaving, below. This year’s Modern and Contemporary participants in full can be found on their site.
