Open Call deadline is May 15, 2014. Apply now!
The DUMBO Arts Festival is the single largest free art event in New York City, bringing innovative artwork to a diverse audience and providing a career-making platform for artists from around the world.
Founded in 1997 as the Art Under the Bridge Festival, the three-day happening was initially established as a grass roots artists’ initiative. Taking advantage of the unique urban landscape and high density of artist studios in DUMBO, Brooklyn, the first Art Under the Bridge Festival included open studios, live music and dance performances, and an art parade.
Now in its eighteenth year, the DUMBO Arts Festival attracts 200,000 visitors over 3 days with the participation of over 400 artists from a variety of disciplines, 100 studios, 50 galleries and stages. For 2014, the DUMBO Arts Festival will stay true to its roots, presenting performance, projections, and sculptural interventions in the streets, along with gallery exhibitions and open studios.
This year, the Festival will take place on Friday, September 26th, Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th. The official Festival hours are Friday 6pm to 9pm, Saturday noon to 9pm, Sunday noon to 6pm. Outdoor projections on view through midnight all three nights.
Please join us at the Festival that brings DUMBO’s creativity to the world and the world’s creativity to DUMBO.
