- Rich artist foundations are being sued. Lots of opportunity for abuse—three artists foundations are currently embroiled in lawsuits—but also lots of opportunity. Almost half of the 300 artist-endowed foundations in the U.S. were formed between 1996 and 2005 and assets more than tripled during that time.
