Biennial Artist Daniel Clowes and director Terry Zwigoff Attend Their Own Sneak Preview

by Art Fag City on March 31, 2006 Events

Probably the least defining moment of Clowes career was his inclusion in the 2004 Whitney Biennial, but since the exhibition will be on the tip of our tongues until the end of May, he has the good fortune of being refered to as such in this post. Promising to be more interesting than either the 2004, or 2006 Biennial, Clowes and Zwigoff will be discussing their newest film Art School Confidential after the sneak preview at the Steinhardt Building. This news was sent to me via The Reeler, who has actively instructed his readers to beat us comic geeks out. Of course, he may not have heard the words of Daniel Clowes, who once said “You have to remember, the most successful comic book artists only make an upper middle class living”*. Clowes may be able to afford the 25 bucks to attend his lecture, but many of his contemporaries can’t.

*not a verbatium quote. It was said several years ago, and I didn’t write it down.
