In the interest of shameless self promotion, we want to encourage New York readers to attend this Thursday’s opening of Young Curators, New Ideas II, a curator focused exhibition organized by Amani Olu in collaboration with P.P.O.W. Amongst the seven New York based curators invited will be our very own Associate Editor Karen Archey, who showcases new voices in contemporary art (the connective tissue of the show) through her exhibition The Low Museum.  From the press release:

How does popular culture view the role of a contemporary art curator? Low Museum considers this question and seeks to demystify the clichéd identity of the art professional through an installation including two video projects in collaboration with Daniel Chew, a photograph by Jason Lazarus, and a portrait in collaboration with Tara White.

Other participants include Cecilia Jurado, Megha Ralapati, Jose Ruiz, Nico Wheadon, Cleopatra’s (Bridget Donahue, Bridget Finn, Kate McNamara & Erin Somerville), Women in Photography (Amy Elkins & Cara Phillips).
