Post-Crash Curator Takes on Greater New York | The New York Observer

This is a pretty great article, though Neville Wakefield utters at least one sentiment I’m sure a few of us would disagree with: “The role of curators, writers, critics has become more important, and the role of collectors has maybe become less,” Mr. Wakefield said, drawing a distinction between “people who are involved in an interpretive process as opposed to the acquisitive process.” Talk to any dealer and they’ll tell you it’s the collectors who are really important. Museums also rely on heavily philanthropists, so I’m not convinced critics, writers and curators are any more important.
