Lewis Hine, "Bloggers", 1908

Do you have what it takes to work for AFC? Are you wise, skilled, or just bitter beyond your years? If so, the answer is: Maybe! AFC’s expanding, and we need a few brilliant interns to help us continue producing the sort of high-quality content New York has come to expect from us. If you’re art-savvy, internet popular, and are in possession of skills relating to writing, we want to hear from you.

What’s in it for you? Tons. But don’t take my word for it – our current interns, when asked, described the program as “great” and “btw am i getting fired?” Write well, and the internet will reward you: our interns have gone on to write for Art in America, ArtINFO, Art-Agenda, The New York Observer, Flavorwire, and elsewhere.

Ideal candidates have a strong interest in visual art and digital media, are proficient in MS Office, Photoshop and HTML, and possess excellent writing and editing skills. Applicants should also be extremely organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented. Serious pluses: having published art writing or reportage, and an established Twitter or tumblr following.

Interns will work directly with AFC Editorial Director Paddy Johnson and Editor-in-Chief Will Brand to support all aspects of running an art blog, from content management to fundraising efforts. The position offers valuable hands-on experience in the fast-growing world of digital media, and in-depth insight into a prestigious online publication. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend private tours and panel discussions as well as write original content for the blog.

Duties include:

  • Copy-editing posts and columns
  • Managing ongoing series
  • Project-based research
  • Photo-editing

Applicants should expect to make a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, although some work can be done remotely. Candidates who have or are working towards a degree in journalism or art history are preferred. This position is unpaid.

If interested, please e-mail cover letter, resume, and availability to artfagcity@gmail.com with “Intern Application” as the subject line.

In the same principle of the banners placed on smart phones you are able to use the mobile media styling of embedded banners within the multitude of mobile ready websites of all kinds of companies and businesses. Those types of banners can be places on a cost per click basis or cost per impression, thus only costing you money when someone actually takes a look at your business, potential customers. This form of advertising works best when the banners are placed on sites where you possible clientele is most likely to be found. Like products bring about like business, a classic business principle that works even in today’s heavily mobile fuelled world
