Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in art, and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is brown.
Time to raid your dad’s closet. Thanks to K-Hole, Normcore is trending, and brown is the color of Normcore. Some believe it’s the result of a growing resistance to an overwhelming fashion industry; personally, I suspect Normcore has to do with years of the fashion industry’s nostalgia binge, which is naturally running its course through the decades up to the nineties. (An image search of “normcore” pulls up like fifty percent Seinfeld pictures.) So, really, Normcore is just the nineties all over again. Goodbye, eighties, seventies, sixties. Hello, future!
