This may be a premature reblog, since David Bowie GIFs were an Internet sensation last September. But Claudia Maté’s must be blogged.
Last year, Lorna Mills rallied a group of artists to make their own Bowie GIFs as a response to the Victoria and Albert Museum’s “David Bowie is” exhibition, which made a stop at the Art Gallery of Ontario on its world tour.
Claudia Maté’s contributions are especially simple, choosing to highlight Bowie’s pupils (and mask-like persona? See above.) If you will notice, one of David Bowie’s pupils is a lot larger than the other one. This is apparently due to the fact that he got punched in the eye as a 14-year-old, in a fight with his friend over a girl, according to the blogs. Look at the expanding and contracting pupil flanked by tonsils. It’s a disturbing, but succinct, portrait.
