Amy Poehler’s satire is spot on in her role as self-important art dealer. Playing the role of a blonde Edna Mode, this collection of outtakes for her Old Navy commercial has Poehler skewering the art world in less than 50 seconds. (Don’t bother watching the actual commercial unless you want be depressed about how corporate America kills all that is good). Here’s a rundown of Poehler’s targets:
She mocks conceptual art:
This is entitled “blue box”. It’s about the civil war. Obviously.
Art handling:
This piece was made on a ship, and then shipped to a car, and then driven to a plane.
Art criticism:
This is a challenging piece…it’s so stupid its hard to understand and that can be interesting.
Name dropping:
Old Navy. I know him, he’s French. Old Navy, short, bald, German guy, has a lot of animals.
And last, but certainly not least, financial troubles:
I’ll sell this entire gallery, I’m bankrupt, I’m in incredible debt, I mean look at this shit that I’m selling.
