Frame rates make the GIF. Sped up or slowed down, a GIF can turn into a different species to behold. And then there’s a limbo-like state that happens when images fade into each other, creating odd layering effects like the Pongo-turned-saint above.
Back in 2008, Cody Filardi saved his GIF stills to Flickr, highlighting these weird transitions. The small archive may seem novice now, to those who can’t remember the Internet in 2008, but someone had to document it. Thanks for the history, Filardi.
