The Tip

I notice that ArtInfo still hasn’t launched their auction database. Last I heard they had expected to go live in December, though it seemed everyone was anticipating they would miss that date. Production always takes longer than anyone anticipates.

My contemplation of their homepage has inspired this AFC tip for the day: If ArtInfo really wants to blow their competition out of the water they should expand their art database to include other auctionable items such as furniture, jewelry, rugs etc. Most collectors have interests the extend outside of the arena of art, and there are virtually no searchable databases that handle these areas of collecting effectively. I imagine most appraisors and collectors would donate their first son for something like this.
