Rollerskating is like art, with the roll, and skate…

Event info: PS1 30th Anniversary Celebration Kick-Off at the Roxy
When: Tuesday, July 18th, 8 pm
Where: The Roxy, 515 W 18th Street
Tickets: $30 per person

Artist’s are not typically known for their great athletic ability, so it is possible that P.S.1.’s newly unveiled rollerskating birthday plans will be foiled by injuries incurred while drinking cocktails and skating. Of course, having spent the majority of my high school years playing hockey in Canada, I suspect I will be able to hold my own at this venue, and am therefore willing to take my health into my own hands.

All talk of injuries aside, it must be said that thankfully there doesn’t seem to be much of an agenda to pretend that the event itself is “art”. The DJ’d music will hark back to the time P.S.1. was born, but outside of this, the only connection with the activity to art that is being drawn is that art lovers should support. And I will — once the museum answers my safety query.

Dear P.S.1.

Are roller-helmet’s required attired at your birthday party? Just want to be safe. Let me know.

Sincerely,

AFC
