The Connection between a Dead Rabbit and Marky Mark

I don’t know that anyone can truly complain about a slow news day with a big ol’ war going on, but that doesn’t mean that I’ve got much to say about anything right now either. To use a term coined by T.Whid of MTAA, I am officially feeling “unposty”. Speaking of T.Whid, today he posted an awesome gif of the artist Joseph Beuys by John Michael Boling. Boling has a great url titled http://www.goooooooooogle.com,* which hosts the kind of Internet art that leaves a lot of people wondering why it exists in the first place. The Beuys gif is rather brilliant in this way since plenty of people don’t get the significance of a man who anoints himself with honey and pets a dead rabbit either. What this image tells us is that a little more thought is required to understand the work.

Well, most of the time. Boling’s QVC video featuring a big wet juicy pork-vagina draws connections that are a little too easy for my taste, but this is balanced out by the most innovative rollover** I have seen to date. Other favorites include photoshop asteroids (which would be even better if you could play the game), and marquee mark, a page that floats images of Marky Mark across the screen to the tune of Good Vibrations. If you’re still not biting after all of these pages, then I’m not sure what to tell you. I mean if a Beach Boys midi file doesn’t sell you, what will?

* I have abreviated the site name so that it fits properly in the post.
**a rollover is an image that changes when the cursor moves across it.
