Expanded Cinema

For the record my brain now feels like it is about to explode as a result of viewing so much cool shit on YouTube. I suppose this sentiment comes a little late in the game, but when you’re basically using the site to find old footage of Tom Cruise and Zombie movies, it’s possible you aren’t exploiting it for all it’s worth. Thankfully, there’s now an art blog that can inspire even greater YouTube surfing malaise, as curator Joao Ribas has graciously taken up the task of seeking out experimental early cinema for reposting on his site Expanded Cinema. Yes, this means that Cinephiles with an affinity for the Internet will never fucking leave the place. A word of warning though to those who are not accustomed to durational video: There is a lot of this kind of work on the site, so if you don’t have any interest in hearing long term bird chirping and other such sounds, the project may not be right for you.
