Twitter: What are you doing?

Will somebody please explain to me why I should give a fuck about Twitter? I’ve been reading about this Internet application for two months, and I still don’t get it. Why does anyone care that I’m “eating a cookie” …10 seconds ago? I don’t think random updates on what other people are doing is necessarily that interesting.  Celebrity twitter I might buy, this, not so much.
