“It seems every square centimetre of the National Portrait Gallery is under some form of copyright. I wasn’t even allowed to photograph the “No Photographs” sign. This is disturbing…I think galleries and museums are taking themselves far too seriously. The should be lobbying to yank public funds from institutions that don’t allow photography.

As if our museums HAD public funds with which a public might barter; take a look at who most of the galleries in our most important museums are named after. American museums tend to be public institutions that survive almost solely on private funding.
