Anyone looking for an aspiring journalist fresh from the Art Institute of Chicago? Located in Paris, this young graduate recently contacted Art Fag City in hopes that we might have a position for her. In an effort to help this woman out, I’ve posted her solicitation below, and an email address where she can be reached. Do not hesitate to contact her.

Wow. I’ve been meaning to write my own post on the most horrific developments in the English Language propagated by the world of blogs, myspace, etc. I’ve been collecting a list of offences. Looks like Ms. Nuernberg has done it for me. I can’t imagine why you’re not interested.
btw i needz job too.
(makes puppydog face)

Does she have references? What is her previous work experience? Can she provide additional writing samples?

It’s not excactly a letter of application to the New York Times, brah! Clearly the intent is to keep the tone lite.
Does the resume include an email address like h0tt13@hotland.com?

Probably fake – clearly a serious(ly deluded) Chicago grad would move to Berlin.

Sounds. Adorible.
Artists are FAR too serious for our own good… Perhaps its time we take a breath and remember that there are times to be silly, maybe a little flirty and that women after all are still allowed to be cute.
I’m sure if she’s smart enough to spend time on this site, she’s educated enough to give some good imput on the situation in Paris.
Give the girl a chance.

great! good luck and have fun with exams! I also have a couple of questions about how to get a PHD in Art History, I would like to pick your brain so to speak, in the event that you would have time and be willing to share. I have a bunch of questions, and if you would have the time for conversation please let me know. I think maybe a phone conversation or two would do the trick. I’m in no rush and really have no idea whether or not this is something I want to/or can afford to do, but it would be nice the talk with someone who has navigated the process and succeeded, any way … at your leisure.
sincerely,
charles

I went to school with “this girl” and I can tell you all, that she is an extremely intelligent and talented artist. She is also one of the sweetest, most fun, and most lighthearted women I have ever met. I don’t think I have ever seen her without her trademark contagious smile in all the years we spent living on the same campus.
This is obviously an attempt at lightening the mood of the otherwise begging tone that most job requests from artists take on. Did anyone stop and think that perhaps this was done to separate her request from the dozens (or probably more) of job requests that this publication probably receives on a daily basis?
I think those of you making fun of her probably just wish that you had half of the creative insight that it took to decide that this was the best way to set one’s self aside from the pack. I am sure that you are just jealous that artfag didn’t put enough stock in your job request to think it worth reposting for others to see.

It’s generational. People over 30 are appalled by the unprofessionalism. People under 30 think it’s cool.

Another glowing product of my wonderful alma mater! Her letter certainly is very lighthearted, fun, laid back, and silly. Much like your average SAIC critique it does that quite well. Unfortunately it fails to display the writing ability of an eighth grader. I’m sure she’s very smart and creative but what she’s done here is roughly as effective as applying for a job as a daycare teacher by pooping in the sandbox.
