Posting will arrive later in the day after I return from the Whitney Biennial press preview. I’ll be running down a few of the highlights a little later on in the day.

Let me guess: the 2008 Whitney Biennial will be “uneven” with “mixed results.”

Ha! Touche – though that wasn’t exactly my impression this time around.

Well, the biennial is bound to please and annoy–why would it not? Truth is, I have enjoyed every biennial I have seen (2000-present) BECAUSE it both pleased and annoyed me. This year, the list of artists seems VERY safe, so I am anxious to see what the work looks like.

Yeah, 2000 was the year I started too – I’ve seen every one since. I think with shows this size unless some real debauchery has gone on, it’s almost impossible not to find aspects you both like and dislike.
You’re right the artists do seem very safe.I had initially thought that was probably a good thing, since they tend to fuck up anyway, most biennials receiving negative reviews. Without giving away too much however, my initial impression was really not good.
