Tom Moody – What Kind of Net Artist Are You?
I suspect the answers to these questions will often begin with “It depends…”, but I think the quiz is great.

Some people took the quiz on Rhizome. Generally what I would call Net 1.0 artists tried to gainsay the questions and “kick my ass” intellectually. What I would call the 2nd generation gave short answers and had fun with the quiz.
In any case, it didn’t help. The old quard is still asking if “posting links to existing media with friends on a group blog” is supposed to be art, and whether this is a real movement.
They adamantly refuse to read or listen to anything that would clear this up. Right now a bunch of them are debating whether “the technological base of (the content of) the network determines the cultural superstructure of (the content of) net art.”
The new guard needs its own Rhizome, is my conclusion. The old duffers (and young fogeys) are beyond help.
