UPDATE: Given that NADA is a non-profit, Miami specific fair, this post might well be scrapped. Feel free to disregard the thoughts below. In fact, I hope you will.
I suppose there are a lot of politics preventing obviously good ideas from actually happening, but I wish NADA and Pulse, the two most reputable emerging art focused fairs in Miami would save everyone a bit of time and merge their efforts. If they did this perhaps they could eliminate some of the weaker galleries from each fair and put together a single event that doesn’t require such heavy work on the part of the viewer to find the best art. They could also find a new location, thus solving the issue of being off the beat and path.
UPDATE: Although I didn’t mention it, the superart fair fantasy would consist of a lot more NADA galleries than Pulse. Essentially, the percentage of weak galleries at NADA more or less matches the percentage of solid ones at Pulse, so a simple swap would suffice.
