Yes. That pun was intended. In case you’re wondering why it’s so quiet around it here, it’s because we’ve been wrapped up in the same stuff everyone else is: Apple’s great unveiling of the iPAD. I’ve been following Kottke.org and the NYTimes Bits blog this afternoon: they seem the least effected by the media hype, at least to the extent that they aren’t squealing with glee about the event.

This iPad….is going to revolutionize what we know as computing…and customer service industries, the medical field, the plein air artist, the writer on the run, tradesmen, shopping the grocery aisles, buying clothes, buying eyeglasses, the art gallery experience, social interaction just to name a few….it will become the most ubiquitous object of high tech ever…..and that is the first version…wait till they add a camera, usb 3, wireless bluetooth….oh did I mention interior design, architecture…..and for starters…the orders of the first version for the North American governments and educational institutions will be in the tens of thousands….and there is training for these right now….BUT…this is nothing compared to the software Apple is developing for all and many more of these applications…as Jobs has said…devices…change often…but it is the software that will change peoples lives..(paraphrased)
