The only thing wrong with artist Nina Katchadourian’s survey of cats found in Sky Mall Magazine is that kitty wasn’t also photoshopped onto the voice activated R2-D2 currently available. The bot caught my eye on a plane to Sacramento last week; up until then I hadn’t realized R2-D2 had passed into the category of once zeitgeist-now useless enough to qualify for Sky Mall listing. I sent the image to Star Wars Modern, but he wasn’t interested. He was wrong. R2-D2 after the jump.

It was the flu. It made me sound like a hater. R2D2 is one of the most under rated MacGuffin in film history. But in the same way I wonder about men who collect very expensive sex dolls (Becky Yee’s show bummed me out) I am bewildered by the idea of paying $200.00 to live with a fake R2D2.

Speaking of advanced catvertising…this one was covered on Videogum the other day. And if you’ve been watching the Olympics, you’ve already seen it. But it’s easily the best (and trippiest) cat food commercial of all time. Watch it in HD…in the climactic “red carpet sequence” you can see little bouncing eggs wearing what appear to be strap-on chicken masks…
