It certainly doesn’t feel like winter in Chelsea but Yvon Lambert’s Christmas In July, may benefit from reminding us that it in fact will not be this hot forever. The show focuses on the many tensions that surround the holiday season, with a more spirituality versus capitalism than mom versus dad type thematic. A highlight of this group show curated by Simon Castets, is Jonathan Horowitz’s Free Store, a piece that allocates part of the gallery as a store front where visitors can leave and take whatever they want. Hello Yankee swap as art! Other participating artists include Lynda Benglis, Alex da Corte, Matt Keegan, and Aleksandra Mir.
