Call for Applications: Art Fag City Editorial Intern

Denial of intern Liza Eliano’s imminent departure has delayed my posting a call for her replacement. Stupid school. Who will write epic art merch surveys for AFC in her absence? Who will write AFC’s event listings with such subtle humor? And most importantly, who will write profiles scathing enough to prompt their subjects to create ugly photoshop portraits of my face?

If you’re a journalism student and think you’re up for the task of editing AFC posts, and possibly even creating a few yourself, have I got a job for you. School credit available. The call below:

Art Fag City seeks a fall editorial intern.

Ideal candidates have a strong interest in visual art and digital media, are proficient in MS Office and HTML, and possess excellent writing and editing skills. Applicants should also be extremely organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented. Knowledge of Facebook, Delicious, Flickr, and Twitter is preferred.

Interns will work directly with AFC Editor-in-Chief Paddy Johnson to support all aspects of running an art blog, from content management to fundraising efforts. The position offers valuable hands-on experience in the fast-growing world of digital media, and in-depth insight into a prestigious online publication. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend private tours and panel discussions as well as write original content for the blog.

Duties include:

-Copy editing posts and columns

-Managing ongoing series

-Managing the AFC flickr account

-Project-based research

Applicants should expect to make a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, although some work can be done remotely. Candidates who have or are working towards a degree in journalism are preferred. This position is unpaid.
