Lauded by Frieze Magazine in 2008 for rewarding viewers who pay close attention, PEET’s homemade pigments and panels meld real world events with fictious forces. “The Resistants,” “Luxury Leader,” and more recently, “The Sunday Painter” are just a few. The exhibition seems a little art-centric nerdy for my tastes, though perhaps that will matter less in the gallery. The show includes a bi-weekly video screening series for the film-painting junkie. Peet considers the films an analogue to the paintings themselves, which may be why the artist describes terms like concise video cuts as “brushstrokes”.
