I might suggest Middle-East history, culture, geography, geology, etc, and maybe go “head-first” into Egypt,
living among the population, studying their past, and of course, asking
lots of questions and researching the things you are told, and things
you discover on your own. A curator must have a strong knowledge of all
these things, and be able to speak fluently to their audience (no
teleprompters, please).
