Gretzky’s 50 years in pictures and sound – The Globe and Mail – His birthday was last week, but it's still worth a watch. I grew up listening to my Dad regal the plays Gretzky made the night before on the rink while I got ready for school. This is probably why I still remember the ride into Branford, the night I played hockey in the same arena of his home town. It was just a regular game, but of course, I'd hoped that somehow some of his residual skill might end up on the rink. It did not.
