Artist Nathan Bond knows cancer sucks better than most people. Both he and his wife Elisa Bond were diagnosed with the disease within nine days of each other — Nathan, with stage three rectal cancer and Elisa, with stage four breast cancer. They have a one year old child.
Now, supporting a child while suffering through chemotherapy treatments isn’t ever easy, but it’s particularly hard when both parents share the physical hardship. In light of this, tomorrow evening, artist Todd Lambrix has organized a one night exhibition and benefit at Flux Factory to help raise money for the family. Tickets cost $250 a piece, and over 100 artists have donated work including Tom Otterness, Orly Genger and Sol LeWitt. Every ticket holder gets a work of art.
I recommend that those who can afford tickets purchase them. It’s a great way to acquire some art at an inexpensive price, but more importantly, it’s a direct means of helping two members of New York’s artist community who really need it. To purchase tickets please contact Todd Lambrix at todd.lambrix@gmail.com. To RSVP click “attend” on the event’s facebook page.
All money raised at this event goes to the Nathan and Elisa Bond Family
