Photography gets the spotlight in AFC’s new interview series, MATTE. Every Monday and Wednesday this fall, AFC will host one-on-ones with photographers, editors, and critics.
We’re excited about this series for a number of reasons, not the least of which being the strong curatorial presence writer and curator Matthew Leifheit brings to project. Over the course of the next three months, you can look forward to reading thoughts from a diverse group of workers, including Elisabeth Biondi, Harry Griffin, Christopher Schreck, and Vince Aletti to name a few.
The series, which is an extension of MATTE Magazine, a publication produced by Leifheit that focuses on the work of a single photographer per issue, came out of a desire to shed more light on the subject of photography. Leifheit is uniquely qualified to do so, as he brings with him an extensive knowledge and background of photography and publishing (10 of the 20 issues published by MATTE Magazine have been collected by MoMA Library and six were included in this year’s ICP Triennial.)
So don’t take your eyes off the blog. This interview series isn’t one even the busiest of us can afford to miss.

Yay!
I know it’s my job to say that I’m super excited about the things that go on the blog, but this one really is special. I’ve been wanting to do this for so long.
