Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in the art world and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is brown.
We’re not sure it’s possible to find an image which better illustrates Color Wheel than this one. Everybody’s wearing brown!
The image comes with tonight’s screening of Köken Ergun’s latest film, a three-channel video installation showing how Shi’a Muslims from Turkey celebrate Ashura, a day of mourning to commemorate the death of martyr Immam Hussein. Ergun’s been working closely with the community on this for three years, so he’s no slouch. Hear him discuss that process tonight at 6 PM, followed by the opening from 7-9 PM.
