Does art have a higher purpose? I don’t know, but if it does, that purpose isn’t going to fix economic inequality in the art world. My column for the L Magazine this week begins thusly;
Two days before Christmas I received a note from a colleague. He felt that much of the art getting made today is devoid of presence—that it’s self-serving, ego-tripping, and fails to contribute to contemporary culture. He wrote to me because he felt he needed to do more to address this problem, and he wanted to talk ideas. Now, I’ve never received an email like this, and you might say it sounds like the woes of a bitter or disillusioned artist. Who’s making this ego-tripping art anyway? The fact is that, like anything, the state of the art world isn’t so bleak.

Art in the age of total entertainment can this principle not close if they do not want to be overlooked in silence. I have made only the first day of the opening of the exhibition of paintings by Benjamin Springer. I have had the opportunity to share my your own account associations to the images carry the visitors as an entertainer. I made the image the subject of a speech, have the drama and the contradictions in the images associated with Excursen in the story, so that the image into a multimedia experience has been. The guests were all bright-eyed and have waved at me when I leave the exhibition.
Images must be brought to speak, they are entertained, otherwise it is tired and boring.
